Renuw Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Renuw may collect, why it is used, and the choices and rights available to people using the app.

Last updated: 15 May 2026

1. Who this policy applies to

Renuw is published under the SquirrelSolve brand. This Privacy Policy applies specifically to Renuw and does not replace any separate privacy policy for the wider SquirrelSolve website or for any other SquirrelSolve product.

2. What Renuw does

Renuw helps people track renewals and ongoing plans such as insurance, utilities, subscriptions, mobile contracts, broadband, gym memberships, mortgage or rate products, and similar recurring commitments.

3. Information Renuw may collect

Renuw is designed around information you choose to add. We do not expect users to upload full policy documents, bank statements, payment card numbers, or similar sensitive paperwork as part of normal app use.

Account and sign-in information
  • Email address when you sign in with email and password

  • Firebase user ID (UID)

  • Display name if one is later added to your account profile

Plan and renewal information you enter
  • Provider, supplier, or lender name

  • Plan name

  • Plan type or category

  • Start date

  • Renewal date, end date, or both where relevant

  • Contract length or term details

  • Billing cycle

  • Cost and currency

  • Payment method type, such as card or direct debit

  • Whether a plan auto-renews

  • Reminder preferences and similar timing preferences stored in the app

  • Whether a plan is current, scheduled, expired, archived, renewed, or replaced

  • History or grouping information used to link related plan records

  • Mortgage or rate-related fields where those are used in the app

App settings and preferences
  • Theme preference

  • Default currency

  • Default reminder preferences

  • Smart reminder learning preference

Smart reminder interaction signals

If you keep smart reminder learning turned on, Renuw may store a small set of product interaction signals to help improve reminder timing or the app experience later.

  • Which plan screen was viewed

  • Whether a renewal action was opened

  • Whether you clicked review options or remind later

  • Whether you marked a plan as staying, renewed, replaced, or archived

  • Limited metadata such as billing cycle, currency, auto-renew flag, category, provider ID, and days until renewal

These signals are intended to stay privacy-conscious. They should not include free-text notes, full contract documents, or unnecessary personal content.

Support information

If you contact support, we may keep the information you send us, such as your email address, issue description, device details, screenshots you choose to share, and messages about your request.

Provider logo requests

Renuw may request trusted provider logo images from a third-party logo service such as Brandfetch for selected catalogue providers. When that happens, the request may include the provider's public web domain and standard technical request data, such as IP address, as part of the normal web request. Free-typed custom providers should not trigger this logo lookup.

4. Why Renuw uses this information

  • Create and manage your account

  • Authenticate you and keep your data linked to your account

  • Store, sync, and display the plan and renewal information you choose to add

  • Show current, scheduled, archived, renewed, or replaced plan history

  • Save your preferences, such as theme, currency, and reminder settings

  • Support smart reminder learning where you have left that setting enabled

  • Show provider logos for supported catalogue providers

  • Respond to support requests, bug reports, and deletion requests

  • Keep the app secure, troubleshoot issues, and prevent misuse

  • Meet legal, regulatory, or record-keeping obligations where required

5. Legal bases

Renuw is intended primarily for UK users, and the main legal bases we currently expect to rely on include performance of a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligation, and consent where consent is required by law. Final wording may be refined during legal review before wider public release.

6. Firebase Authentication and Firestore

Renuw uses Firebase Authentication to manage sign-in and account access. Renuw uses Firestore to store app data linked to your account, including plan records, settings, history data, and any smart reminder interaction signals the app records.

7. Notifications, analytics, and related services

Renuw can store reminder preferences and related in-app settings. This policy does not currently describe live push-notification token collection, analytics SDKs, crash reporting SDKs, or affiliate recommendation features as active public features. If those features are added later, this policy and the related store disclosures should be updated to match.

8. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only where needed with:

  • Google or Firebase as infrastructure and authentication providers

  • A provider logo service such as Brandfetch where used to fetch supported provider logos

  • App platform providers such as Apple and Google where needed for distribution, support, security, or compliance

  • Professional advisers, regulators, law enforcement, or courts where required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect our rights or users

  • A buyer, investor, or successor organisation if the Renuw service or publisher brand is sold or restructured, subject to appropriate safeguards

9. International transfers

Renuw may use service providers that process data outside the UK. In particular, Google or Firebase services, and any logo provider used by the app, may process data on servers in other countries. Where personal data is transferred internationally, appropriate legal transfer safeguards should be used.

10. Data retention

We keep account and app data for as long as needed to operate Renuw, provide the service to you, support your account, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and maintain appropriate backups and security records.

  • Active account data is usually kept while your account remains open

  • Support emails or deletion requests may be kept for a reasonable period to manage the request and keep a record of what was done

  • Backup or security copies may remain for a limited period before they are overwritten or deleted

11. Account deletion and data deletion

You can delete your Renuw account and related app data in the app through Settings -> Account -> Delete account. You can also follow the instructions on the delete-account page or contact support@renuw.co.uk.

Deleting your Renuw account does not cancel, renew, or change any services with your providers.

When a deletion request is completed, we aim to remove or anonymise, where appropriate, account-linked plan records, settings, and smart reminder interaction signals. Some limited information may be kept for a short period where needed for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or backup recovery.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to ask for access to your personal data, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, ask for deletion, ask us to restrict certain processing, object to processing based on legitimate interests, ask for a portable copy of certain data, withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, or complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office or another relevant regulator.

To exercise these rights, contact support@renuw.co.uk or use the support page.

13. Children's privacy

Renuw is not designed for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If you believe a child has provided personal information through Renuw, contact support@renuw.co.uk so the situation can be reviewed and addressed appropriately.

14. Security

We aim to use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information. That said, no app or online service can promise absolute security, and you should also take care to keep your sign-in details secure.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Renuw changes, legal requirements change, or our service providers change. When we do, we will update the last-updated date on this page and, where appropriate, give users extra notice inside the app or on the website.
